How much does it cost to acquire citizenship of Grenada and what is required to do so?

* The minimum required amount of investment into real property in Grenada can be reduced to US$ 220,000 in case a joint investment is made into a single piece of property. The development project that this property is a part of shall be approved by the Grenadian Government for the citizenship-by-investment purposes. Every applicant for citizenship of Grenada must pass in-depth due diligence checks. In addition, a complete package of application documents should be submitted to the Citizenship by Investment Unit in Grenada.

A licensed immigration agent will submit the application and the supporting documents on behalf of the client. The agent will also hand the passports of Grenada to the applicants when citizenship of the country is granted to them. The application is provisionally approved

  • Medical certificates confirming negative HIV test results less than 3 months old (for the main applicant and all dependents above 11 years of age).
  • Notarized and apostilled foreign passport color copies (all pages) with notarized translations if necessary. This requirement applies to all applicant family members who hold foreign passports.
  • If the applicant has dual citizenship, he or she shall supply notarized and apostilled copies of all his/ her passports.
  • Twenty photographs 3.5 by 4.5 centimeters in size for each applicant. The reverse of one photograph of every applicant has to be certified.
  • Notarized and apostilled copies of the military service cards and their translations for all military card holders.
  • Notarized and apostilled copies of birth certificates and their notarized translations if necessary. This requirement holds for all applicant family members.
  • The originals of police clearances from every country that the applicants are citizens of, and every country that they have resided in for over one year over the last ten years, with notarized and apostilled translations if necessary. This requirement holds for all family members who are above 16 years of age.
  • The original of the Letter of Reference from the bank that has been servicing the main applicant for at least 2 years.
  • A bank statement for the last 12 months (applies to the main applicant only).
  • The original of a professional recommendation from the main applicant’s employer. If the applicant is self-employed, a letter of recommendation from a business partner, an auditor or a lawyer needs to be supplied.
  • A proof of address such as a utility bill carrying the name and the address of the main applicant.
  • A notarized and apostilled copy of the marriage license or the divorce certificate with apostilled translations (applies to the main applicant only).
  • Legalized color copies of alternative IDs (such as driver’s licenses, for instance). This requirement applies to all applicants having alternative IDs.
  • If the main applicant has ever changed his/ her personal name (excluding the acceptance of a new name after marriage), a notarized document is required to confirm this fact.

When might an application for Grenadian citizenship by investment be rejected?

If the applicant has had a prison sentence or has a criminal record, the application may be rejected. If the applicant fails to pass the security checks, the application will be rejected. Sometimes, the immigration authorities explain the rejection based upon national security concerns. At other times, they reject the application if they discover that the applicant has provided false or incomplete information when submitting the application documents. If the applicant has been denied a visa to one of the countries that Grenada has visa-free arrangements with, he or she will not be able to acquire citizenship of Grenada until they acquire a visa to the country that has denied it before.

Can the Grenadian passport be annulled?
